Importing mineral raw materials from China may seem complex if you have never done it before, but the process is well-established and straightforward with the right guidance. Thousands of ceramic manufacturers worldwide import feldspar and nepheline from China every month. This guide walks you through the entire process from initial inquiry to receiving goods at your factory β specifically for nepheline syenite and feldspar products.
The Import Process: 8 Steps
Initial Inquiry & Quotation
Contact us with your product interest (which grade), approximate quantity (tons per month or year), destination port, and preferred trade terms (FOB or CIF). We respond within 24 hours with pricing, product specifications, and COA data. You can reach us via email (andy@ceramicminerals.com), WhatsApp (0086-132 6813 3001), or phone.
Samples
We ship 1-5 kg of each grade you want to evaluate by DHL or FedEx courier at our expense. Samples arrive within 5-7 days to most international destinations. Each sample includes a Certificate of Analysis for comparison with your own test results.
Laboratory Evaluation
Test our samples in your production laboratory following our recommended protocol: press and fire test discs at 1200 degrees C, measure whiteness (L*a*b*), prepare test body formulations replacing your current feldspar, fire test tiles, and measure water absorption, shrinkage, and strength. Compare results with your current raw material and with our COA data.
Purchase Order & Payment
Once you approve the sample quality, we issue a Pro-Forma Invoice (PI) detailing: product grade, quantity, unit price, total amount, payment terms, packaging specification, shipping port, and estimated delivery schedule. Standard payment: T/T (telegraphic transfer) β 30% deposit upon PI confirmation, 70% balance against copy of Bill of Lading. Letter of Credit (L/C) also accepted for orders above USD 50,000.
Production & Quality Control
Production takes 7-14 days for standard grades. Each batch is tested in-house (XRF, particle size, moisture, firing whiteness) and critical batches undergo independent verification at Foshan Youbo Lab. We send the COA to you for approval before loading the container.
Container Loading & Shipping
Products are loaded into a 20-foot shipping container (approximately 24 tons per container). We provide loading photos on request. The container is sealed with a numbered security seal. For FOB terms, we deliver the container to the agreed Chinese port and provide all export documentation. For CIF terms, we also arrange ocean freight and insurance to your destination port.
Documentation
Complete shipping documents include: Commercial Invoice, Packing List (bag count, gross/net weight), Bill of Lading (original 3/3), Certificate of Analysis, Certificate of Origin (for tariff preference if applicable), and Insurance Certificate (for CIF shipments). Documents are sent by express courier and/or via your bank for L/C transactions.
Arrival & Customs Clearance
Your customs broker handles import clearance at your destination port using the documents we provide. The HS Code for nepheline syenite is typically 2529.30 (nepheline syenite) and for feldspar 2529.10 (feldspar). Import duty rates vary by country β check with your customs broker. After clearance, arrange truck transport to your factory. Inspect the shipment upon arrival: check bag condition, verify bag count, and take samples for incoming quality testing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there import duty? Varies by country. Nepheline (HS 2529.30) and feldspar (HS 2529.10) attract relatively low duties in most countries (0-5% in India, Turkey, and most ASEAN countries under trade agreements). Check with your customs broker for your specific country.
How long does shipping take? Southeast Asia: 5-14 days. India/Pakistan: 14-21 days. Middle East: 18-28 days. Europe: 30-40 days. Americas: 30-45 days. Africa: 25-40 days.
What if the quality does not match the COA? We stand behind our quality. If your incoming inspection reveals material that does not match the COA specifications within normal analytical tolerance, we will resolve the issue β either through price adjustment, replacement shipment, or credit on future orders. This has happened extremely rarely because our wet-process production and multi-stage testing ensure consistent quality.
