Matte glazes form through controlled devitrification β partial crystallization during cooling. Our GP20 grade with its high CaO (5.34%) is specifically suited for this, promoting calcium-alumina-silicate crystal formation that creates smooth, uniform matte surfaces.
Matte Glaze Chemistry
The balance of alkali, alumina, and calcium controls crystallization. GP20's high total alkali (15.63%) ensures complete melting, while the CaO promotes controlled crystallization during cooling. Use GP20 at 15-25% of formulation. Add zinc oxide for enhanced matte effect.

Polished Glaze (FPG)
Full-polished glaze tiles require a thick glaze layer (0.5-1.0mm) mechanically polished after firing. Nepheline contributes high alumina for hardness, balanced flux for bubble-free melt, and low iron/titanium for color clarity.
Recommended
GP20 for matte glazes and frit. K200 for polished glazes requiring whiteness.
