When you receive our samples (1-5 kg per grade), here is the recommended testing protocol to evaluate quality for your specific production conditions.
Technical Details
Step 1 β Visual inspection: the powder should be fine, free-flowing, white to light grey, with no visible dark specks, lumps, or discoloration. Any yellow or brown tint suggests high iron content. Step 2 β Moisture test: weigh 50g, dry at 110 degrees C for 2 hours, reweigh. Moisture should be below 1.0%. Step 3 β Press firing discs: press at least 3 discs per grade at 40mm diameter using consistent pressure (approximately 200 kg/cm2). Fire at 1200 degrees C with a standard cycle (5 degrees C per minute heating, 30-minute soak, natural cooling).
Practical Application
Measure fired disc whiteness using a spectrophotometer (L*a*b*) if available, or compare visually under standardized lighting. Step 4 β Formulation trial: prepare your standard body recipe replacing the current feldspar with our nepheline (use 82% of the feldspar weight β see our conversion guide). Press and fire test tiles. Measure water absorption, linear shrinkage, and MOR. Compare with your current production results. Step 5 β COA verification: compare your lab results with our COA data.
