Application Overview
K-feldspar is the preferred flux for electrical porcelain because potassium produces a significantly more viscous glass phase than sodium at firing temperatures of 1250-1300 degrees C. This high viscosity is critical for two reasons: it prevents the heavy insulator body from slumping or distorting during firing, and it produces a dense, non-porous body with high electrical resistance.
