Description
GP20 is our flagship high-expansion nepheline powder. Its uniquely high CaO content (5.34%) provides distinctive thermal expansion properties highly valued in matte glaze formulations and ceramic frit production. The high combined K₂O (9.24%) and Na₂O (6.39%) give GP20 the highest total alkali content in our nepheline range at 15.63%, making it an extremely powerful flux. In matte glaze formulations, GP20's balanced chemistry promotes controlled devitrification during cooling — creating smooth, uniform matte surfaces. For frit production, GP20 serves as a natural source of five useful oxides (Al₂O₃, SiO₂, K₂O, Na₂O, CaO) from a single raw material. The absence of free silica is an additional advantage for frit furnace operations and worker safety. Ceramic technicians recommend using GP20 at 15-25% of matte glaze formulation weight. Combine with zinc oxide for enhanced matte effect. Control cooling rate between 1100-900°C for optimal crystal development.
